$54 million lawsuit for a lost laptop

Someone by the name of Raelyn Campbell filed a $54 million lawsuit against Best Buy for a laptop that was lost. Campbell bought a laptop from Best Buy. And only to find out after a year that the laptop’s power button was broken. So she brought the laptop to Best Buy that is still under warranty for repair. Best Buy promised to give the laptop back in two to six weeks. But six weeks passed and still the laptop is not yet ready. So Campbell kept on calling Best Buy for her laptop and finally after three months, Best Buy disclosed that the said laptop was lost.

And so Best Buy offered Campbell $900 for the lost laptop but she refused to receive the said amount because according to her the original cost of the laptop is $1,100 plus the data of the laptop. So she demanded a $2,100 but Best Buy just disregarded claim.

As a result, Campbell filed a lawsuit of $54 million against Best Buy. Thus, Best Buy increased their offer to $4,100. According to her, she raised her demand to get Best Buy’s attention. All she wanted is an explanation how her laptop was lost and for Best Buy to promise to train well their employees on preventing loss of items.
